It's nothing if not sturdy

We finally got the couch done. And by done I mean half sanded and not painted at all. It took three days of sanding to get it to this point, so we gave up and decided to finish it later. You know - later, where we will have absolutely no place to sand or paint it.

I think now is the time to clarify an earlier statement.

Don't tell anyone, but I love those things. I have always wanted one.

Believe it not (and I am sure you would choose 'not' if you saw my house) I appreciate good design. The reason I love them is because they are stuuuuurdy. Seriously - I would never have to replace this thing if I didn't want to. My grandkids would be able to use this thing. Stuuuuurdy. The only real way to damage one is to damage a cushion cover, which is an easy fix.

We first decided that we wanted one after reading Amy Dacyczyn's explanation on why they bought one. Three toddler boys lived in my house at the time. Sounded good to us.

Flash forward to three teenage boys living in my house. They are still just as hard on furniture, and because they are bigger it does more damage. We have never come across a used "This End Up" couch (although, admittedly we didn't look very hard) and since we don't buy new furniture in my house, it never happened.

So now when we move into our new place, our neighbors are going to scratch their heads at our half sanded, 70's style couch with purple cushions. Welcome to the neighborhood!
